Configuration

Customize SonarVision's guidance to suit your needs.

Last updated 19 days ago

SonarVision allows you to customize how the navigation system works so that it best meets your needs.

Click “Settings,” then “Navigation.”

Directional Sounds

Stereo Mode

Stereo mode plays a sound in your left ear when you need to turn left and in your right ear when you need to turn right. This enhances your sense of direction and can help you make quick decisions while walking.

If you disable this mode (mono mode), sounds will be played identically in both ears. This is useful if you’re wearing only one earbud or if you have partial hearing loss.

Left/Right Differentiation

When this mode is enabled, the left and right sounds will have slightly different timbres. This is very useful in mono mode, or if you’re not using earbuds.

Directional Sound Volume

You can adjust the volume of directional sounds. This allows you to balance the volume of directional sounds relative to the voice prompts.

Volume Variation Based on Direction

When this setting is enabled, the volume of the sounds gradually increases as you move away from the correct direction.

Voice Prompts

Voice

You can adjust the voice that delivers the voice instructions in exactly the same way as for VoiceOver.

Due to a very problematic bug in iOS, we can no longer copy your VoiceOver settings.

“Turn around” prompt

If you are facing completely the opposite direction from where you need to go, a voice prompt will suggest that you turn around. In this case, directional sounds are temporarily disabled and replaced by this voice prompt.

This option is turned off by default.

Pacing and reassurance

Reassurance Interval

SonarVision will repeat the last instruction at regular intervals equal to the “reassurance interval.”

If you don’t like the app to be silent for too long while traveling in a straight line, shorten the reassurance interval.
