Centipede Network Availability
The Centipede network, which enables the use of RTK, covers most of metropolitan France, certain overseas territories, and a few other regions around the world. The SonarVision app automatically connects to the nearest active RTK base station.
You can visit the official card to view existing stations worldwide.
The publishing platform
The app.sonarvision.fr editing platform
The editing tools for manually modifying a route are available worldwide! However, the route calculator and base maps, which rely on highly accurate cartographic data, are not available everywhere.
The route planner
For now, our route planner is only available in mainland France.
We are working on a route planner that works worldwide.
However, routes will only follow pedestrian paths (sidewalks, crosswalks, stairs, etc.) if this data exists on OpenStreetMap.
Here's a map Allowing you to view pedestrian data on OpenStreetMap.
Base maps
Base maps are crucial for planning your routes. We recommend scrolling through the different base maps to determine which one is most accurate for you.
There is often a trade-off between image accuracy and the date the images were taken.
Try comparing aerial imagery with recent panoramic imagery or by visiting the location in person.
In France, we recommend starting with the France Satellite UHD and HD tilesets.
The France Express 2024 base map contains the most recent imagery, but is less accurate and does not cover all of France.
The Mapbox base map covers the entire world in principle, but is not always the most accurate or the most recent.
The OpenStreetMap basemap should be used with caution, as building outlines are often based on cadastral data and are accurate to within about ten centimeters.
