Make SonarVision's guidance work better for you

Last updated 2 months ago

SonarVision allows you to adjust our guidance system to better match your needs.

Click on “Settings” then “Navigation”.

Directional audio

Stereo mode

Stereo mode allows a user to hear a sound in the left ear if they should turn left and right ear if they should turn right. This helps make the system more intuitive and allows users to make quick adjustments while walking.

If you deactivate this mode (mono mode), all sounds will be broadcast identically to both ears. This is useful if you wear a single earphone, or have partial hearing loss.

Left/right differentiation

When this mode is active, the left and right sounds will have a slightly different timbre. This is very useful in mono mode or if you are not using earphones.

Directional sound volume

You can adjust the directional sound’s volume. This allows you to adjust the directional sound’s volume relative to the vocal instructions.

Volume variation depending on orientation

When this parameter is active, the more you deviate from the correct direction, the louder the directional sounds become.

Vocal instructions

Voice

You can adjust the voice which announces vocal instructions the same way you would VoiceOver.

A troublesome iOS bug currently prevents us from simply copying your VoiceOver settings.

“Turn around” instruction

When you are facing 180 degrees from the correct direction, with the parameter active, SonarVision will ask you to turn around. The directional sounds will be temporarily muted and replaced with this vocal instruction.

Cette option is inactive by default.

Rhythm and reminders

Delay between reminders

SonarVision will repeat the last instruction at regular intervals, whose length is defined by the “delay between reminders” parameter.

If you don’t like the app to be silent for too long, in particular in straight lines, make the delay between reminder shorter.
